Every love story is beautiful, but ours is our favorite.
Before there was ever a love story, there was a friendship. Breanna and Temontre became best friends in late 2013 — the kind of best friends who talked about everything, spent all their time together, and made everyone around them wonder how they weren't already together. The connection was there from the start, but neither one of them wanted to be the first to say it.
Then came the day they both decided it was time to come clean. A trip to Chipotle — casual enough, right? Both of them walked in planning to tell the other how they really felt. After they finished eating, standing in the parking lot, Temontre went first. He started pouring his heart out, trying to explain how much Breanna meant to him, and then hit her with: "You're like my sister."
The moment those words came out, Breanna shut it down. She took a step back and decided she was absolutely not putting herself out there after that. The thing is — Temontre was actually trying to tell her he liked her. That was his way of expressing feelings. He beat himself up about it for a while. To this day, they still laugh about the fact that his big romantic confession was comparing her to his sister.
Once Temontre finally explained what he actually meant, the two started dating — and from there, the real race began. They dated for a year before eventually going their separate ways.
But even after the breakup, the story was far from over. There were good times and arguments, moments of laughing until it hurt and stretches of not speaking at all. Ups, downs, pit stops, and detours. But no matter what happened, they always found their way back to each other — as best friends first and everything else second.
After years of growing, learning, and always finding their way back to each other, Temontre asked Breanna to be official again — and this time, it was for good. No more pit stops, no more detours. They both knew that what they had was something worth fighting for, and on November 20, 2023, they made it official.
Through every challenge, every celebration, and every quiet moment in between — they became each other's home. The kind of partnership where you know someone has your back no matter what, because you've already weathered the storms and come out stronger on the other side.
In the heart of Central Park, surrounded by the energy of New York City, Temontre got down on one knee and asked the question that changed everything. The trees, the skyline, the spring air — it was all perfect. And the answer was the easiest one either of us has ever given: Yes.
Now we're headed to the most important finish line of our lives — and we want all of our favorite people there when we cross it. This isn't just a wedding; it's a victory lap for everything we've been through to get here.
